Meditation Techniques

 

 

One pointed focus – directing attention to one object (i.e., gazing or focusing on the breath)

Two pointed focus – directing attention to two objects (i.e., a hand mudra or posture, while stating a mantra or affirmation).

Present moment awareness- a mindfulness practice that observes whatever arises within, without judgment or reaction. This can be done in stillness or in an activity such as walking or eating.

Mantra – using a sound or word as a one-pointed focus meditation

Metta – a practice of loving-kindness meditation to expand one’s awareness and capacity for compassion for the self and others. 

Visualization – used for various reasons, but quite effective in enhancing focus and creativity.

Guided – helpful for beginners. Can be guided through all of the above techniques.
